Keeping a Mentor unit working through lake-effect snow
Mentor sits in the Lake County snow belt, so winter rentals need a plan before the first storm. From November through March, we add a salt-brine antifreeze charge to each tank so it does not freeze. You keep a 4-foot path shoveled to the door and a truck path within 25 feet.
What helps weekly service happen in a snow week
- Place the unit where plows will not pile snow against it. Keep it away from the end of the driveway.
- Face the door away from the lake wind so drifts do not block it.
- Ask for sanitizer dispensers in place of hand-wash water when lows stay below 28°F.
- Text us if the site is closed or unplowed on service day.

Placing a unit on Mentor lots and near the lake
Quick answerMost Mentor homes sit on wider lots with two-car driveways, so a standard unit about 44 inches wide fits beside the garage without blocking cars. Near Mentor Headlands and Mentor Harbor, the ground is sandy and drains well, but wind off Lake Erie is stronger. Choose a level spot sheltered by a building.
Our truck must stay on a hard surface within about 25 feet of the unit. We hand-cart through gates 48 inches or wider and do not drive on lawns. Watch for low branches under 12 feet over older drives.
Many newer Mentor subdivisions have HOA rules about items left in view. Check yours before booking a month-long remodel unit.

Summer parties near Headlands Beach, the Civic Center and Mentor Lagoons
Quick answerMentor's summer events book fast, so plan 7 or more days ahead for June graduation parties and July 4th week. Headlands Beach State Park is run by the state, and Mentor city parks such as Civic Center Park and Mentor Lagoons have their own rules, so get park approval before ordering units there.
For a lakefront wedding of 150 guests with alcohol over 4 hours, the chart calls for 3 standard units plus 2 more for alcohol. Many couples choose a restroom trailer instead, from $795 per weekend for 2 stalls.

Mentor, OH: common questions
Will my Mentor porta potty still get serviced after a big lake-effect snow?
Weekly service continues through snow-belt weeks when the truck can reach within 25 feet and a 4-foot path to the door is shoveled. If the site is not plowed, text us and we reschedule the visit for the next workable day.
Can you deliver to a Mentor Headlands house with a sandy yard?
A sandy Headlands yard is usually firm and drains fast, but the truck still needs a hard surface within about 25 feet. Set the unit beside the house or garage, out of the lake wind, on level ground.
Does my Mentor HOA allow a porta potty during a remodel?
HOA rules vary by Mentor subdivision, so check your association rules before booking. A spot beside the garage or behind a fence often satisfies them. The rental itself has no contract and can end with 2 business days' notice.
How much is a porta potty for a Mentor graduation party?
A standard event unit for a Mentor graduation party starts at $165 for 1–3 days, plus Lake County tax. For 100 guests over 4 hours, plan 2 units and a hand-wash station if food is served. Our graduation party guide has more.
Can a jobsite toilet on Tyler Boulevard be invoiced to our company?
Approved contractors and companies can apply for a net-15 invoiced account. Otherwise, the card on file is billed every 28 days. Weekly service is included, and twice-weekly service is $55 per extra visit.
Do you deliver to Mentor-on-the-Lake as well?
Mentor-on-the-Lake is inside our included delivery area, same as Mentor. Same-day works with a noon order Monday through Saturday, and delivery and pickup are part of the price. Tell us the street so we can plan the truck path.
